Sample Job Description
General Requirements
- Provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment for the child/children in your care.
- Plan, prepare and provide indoor and outdoor activities that develop the physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills of the children.
- Liaise on a regular basis with the parents and communicate any problems concerns or difficulties.
Daily Requirements
- Accompany any children to school.
- Help with any homework.
- Arrange and participate in social activities e.g. playgroup.
- Plan, prepare and cook simple meals.
- Prepare baby's feeds and sterilize equipment.
- Clean surfaces and floor after messy play and meal times.
- Tidy away toys after activities and encourage children to participate in this.
- Bath children and prepare for bed.
- Report accidents, illness and incidents at the end of each day, or immediate in an emergency.
- Keep a record of all messages and pass them on.
Weekly Requirements
- Wash and iron children's clothes and bed linen.
- Vacuum, dust and tidy children's bedroom and play area. Wash and sterilize toys.
- Review petty cash kitty and write and expenditure in book (to be kept with kitty)
Regular Requirements
- Reserve time to discuss with parents children's development, future events and related issues.
Occasional Requirements
- Give medication as directed by parents and record amount and time given
- Take children to G.P. clinic and dentist as necessary.
